Dedication of SFC Randall Shughart Memorial Bridge in Newville
WHAT: Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland) is hosting a dedication ceremony for the SFC Randall Shughart Memorial Bridge. The bridge carrying PA Route 641 over Big Spring Creek on the border of Newville Borough and West Pennsboro Township will be dedicated in his honor under
Act 17 of 2023. Shughart died during a rescue operation in service to his country on Oct. 3, 1993, during the battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
