Gleim Named to House Majority GOP Whip Team
December 18, 2020
HARRISBURG – House Majority Whip, Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Armstrong/Clarion/Forest), has named Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland) to serve as a deputy whip in the 2021-22 Legislative Session, which begins in January.
As a member newly re-elected to her second term, representing the 199th Legislative District in Cumberland County, Gleim was both encouraged and ready to take on the new duties.
“I am honored to have been chosen for this important assignment and thankful to have the confidence of the majority whip,” said Gleim. “It has been a pleasure to serve under Rep. Oberlander’s leadership. We work well together, and I look forward to another productive legislative session.”
Deputy whips have a variety of responsibilities on the House floor, including assisting with member vote counts and, when faced with challenging issues, helping to promote the Republican caucus position. They also keep Rep. Oberlander informed about issues that might affect the legislative agenda and or the caucus.
The 199th District includes the boroughs of Carlisle, Newville; and the townships of Dickinson, Upper Mifflin, Lower Mifflin, Middlesex, North Middleton, Silver Spring, Upper Frankford, Lower Frankford and West Pennsboro.
