Gleim to Host 2024 Veterans Appreciation Breakfast

WHAT: Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland) is hosting her annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast to honor those who have or are currently serving in our military. The keynote speaker will be retired Col. Frank Hancock, and there will also be state information relevant to veterans. This year’s Quilt of Valor recipient is World War II veteran Col. Lee Burcham of Carlisle.

Gleim to Host Fall Fair Oct. 18 in Newville

WHAT: Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland) is hosting a Fall Fair informational event for individuals and families to learn more about programs and services available to them. More than 65 federal, state and local exhibitors; presentations from Gleim, the PA Army National Guard, Firearm Owners Against Crime, and Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland and Perry Counties; voter and mail-in ballot education; and free health screenings will be offered. Children will also be able to trick or treat during the event.

Harrisburg, PA – The Independent Regulatory Review Commission (IRRC) has approved six important edits to its education standards, thanks to a joint letter from Reps. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland), Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler), and Joe D’Orsie (R-Manchester) that pointed out deficiencies, miscalculations and falsehoods in K-12 education curricula.

Dedication of SFC Randall Shughart Memorial Bridge in Newville

WHAT: Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland) is hosting a dedication ceremony for the SFC Randall Shughart Memorial Bridge. The bridge carrying PA Route 641 over Big Spring Creek on the border of Newville Borough and West Pennsboro Township will be dedicated in his honor under Act 17 of 2023. Shughart died during a rescue operation in service to his country on Oct. 3, 1993, during the battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
